Welcome to the Thurman Mill Irrigation District, serving the Garden City area since 1866.
We are a mutually-owned non-profit corporation established to deliver water to our shareholders. We have a board of directors, and a ditch rider who controls the actual water flow.
The Thurman Mill Ditch Company is responsible for the maintenance and well-being of the main Thurman Mill canal, but is not responsible for the laterals or "feeder ditches" that deliver water to shareholder properties. Maintenance of laterals is done by the shareholders that use them.
We hold an annual shareholder meeting to elect directors, establish the budget, and to discuss any other shareholder concerns.
Water typically flows early April through mid October.
